The history of addressing
hunger goes back to its beginning when Florence Butt opened
the first grocery store in 1905 in the hill country of Kerrville,
Texas. As a part of our continued beliefs, tradition and commitment
to improving the quality of life, H-E-B has instituted several
programs to combat hunger, malnutrition and provide emergency
assistance for those in need. Such programs include:

- The H-E-B Food Bank Assistance Program
- Feast of Sharing Holiday Dinners
- “Help End Hunger” and “Share Your Holidays”
- Emergency Disaster Relief and Disaster Hot Meals supported
by its 45 ft. state of the art Mobile Kitchen.

- South Texas Ministries - Working in Northern Mexico
